February 2013

February was quite the month.  We spent a lot of time at home, cleaning up the house/yard and just hanging out.  I started having the girls each take a night to cook dinner with me.  Eja wanted to make pizzas.

Dusky said "Hey, we should get chickens...The girls can feed them and sell the eggs.  It would be so fun!"  and I said "Ya, Maybe..."

Well, he took that as a YES!  The next day I got a phone call and he informed me that he had just ordered FIFTEEN chickens.  Yes, that's right...FIFTEEN chickens.
The chickens are born, then they seriously stick them all in a box and ship them to you the next day through the USPS.

The first day they got here was hilarious!  Dusky took a stool out in the garage and watched them all day.  Kaia named every single one.  She told me that "Sara peed on her hand" and that "Kaia was jacked up!" (she had plucked herself bald in a few spots)

We had to keep them in a tub in our garage under the heat lamps for about 6 weeks.  (We didn't keep them in that long though)
I was getting dressed one day and Eja started FREAKING out.  I thought that someone was dying.  I ran out in the garage and she was yelling "THE CHICKEN"S ON THE BASKET!"  The chickens had escaped and were running around the garage.  So Kaia came and picked them all up and put them back in the tub for us.  haha.  I love Kaia.

Dusky had a week off of work and the girls were out of school for the whole week so we spent a lot of time buildng a chicken coup.  I'm pretty impressed with Dusky.  He didn't have any plans or anything, he just started building and it is a chicken mansion in our back yard.
It is the best toy we have ever purchased.
The girls spend HOURS out there with the chickens.

They came home from school the other day and told me they were going to feed the chickens.  It had been about a half an hour so I went to check on them and as soon as I walked in they said "SSHHHH...We are rocking the chickens to sleep"
They had the chickens cradled and they were rocking back and forth.  The chickens were seriously falling asleep.  They would add that chicken to the pile of sleeping chickens and get another one, until all 15 were asleep.  It was pretty dang cute.

Grandma Holt and all the kids...
Tanner's favorite toy these days in the microphone.  He sang himself to sleep :)
Kaia had a party at her school and I can't even handle how big she's getting.
She just ran around acting like a teenager.  Her and her friends kept finding people and hugging them and saying "Hey, how's it goin?"  haha  It was the funniest thing.  They were out in the middle of the floor doing the congo line and dancing.
She's just growing up too fast.

Florida Trip 2013

Wednesday night I took Kaia to the doctor and she had strep throat.  Poor girl.  They put her on antibiotics that night.  We took the girls out of school and left Thursday morning to go to Orlando.
Naomi and Kristi flew out from Salt Lake on Wednesday, and we all drove down.  We only made it about an hour and Dusky had to stop at Bass Pro Shop (of course)
The drive was pretty good.  The kids were awesome.  We stayed at the time share in Orlando and it was super nice.  There were 3 bedrooms.  Mom and Dad had one.  Zach, Tasha, Kamari, and KRistin stayed in the one with 2 queen sized beds.  And then we took the other.  Naomi and Kristi slept on the pull out couch.

Friday morning: Breakfast of Champions

Grandpa and Tanner getting ready for Disney World.
I love this baby boy and his big blue eyes.
The girls were super excited to be at Disney World.  They wanted to take a picture in front of Cinderella's Castle.
They went on Dumbo, The Tea Cups, It's a Small World, The Merri Go Round, THe Train Rollercoaster.  And then they wanted to do it again.  (Except for Kaia...she wanted to go back to the room)  Sienna loved the big roller coaster.  Kaia was not a fan.  Kaia loved the Dumbo ride.

Tanner and Sienna on "It's a small world"
They sure do love each other.

Zach told Eja and Kyden to "SMILE" and these are the looks he got.
Haha.  They are so cute.  They held hands everywhere we went.

Kaia probably would have rather chased birds all day.
Playing at the hotel...on the golf course.
Dusky and Zach took the kids down to play outside for a while.

When it was time to come back up to the room Dusky said "Come on Sienna.  Hurry and I'll wait for you.  And Kaia ran by him and yelled "I will absolutely NOT wait for her!"

Repunzel Hats
The next day we went to Sea World.  I think the girls liked that even better than Disney World.  They LOVED the whale and dolphin show and all the animals.
We went on the Manta Rollercoaster twice and Eja BAWLED her eyes out because she couldn't go.
She kept saying "I'm big to go on the roller coaster" and I told her she wasn't tall enough.  So she jumped up on the curb and said "Look, I'm taller!"  I told her that wasn't going to work and then she started saying "But I won't fall out...they tie me up really tight!"  It was so sad.  But at least I know she's not going to be scared to go on roller coasters.
Just eating lunch...
Watching Shamu

 We had about 25 churros.
The Dolphin Show

By the end of the day the kids were POOPED.
Eja fell asleep while they were jumping on the beds and then slept through everybody else jumping on the bed.
And Tanner fell asleep while grandpa was holding him straight up.
We stayed up all night that night and acted like lunatics.  We were trying to watch a movie but it kept "Buffering" so everytime it would buffer we would sing at the top of our lungs until it would start up again.  We thought we were pretty funny, but Naomi obviously didn't.  She finally yelled at us to "Shut Up.  You guys are SOOOOOO annoying!"
We also played with the song maker app on my phone.
Then everybody (except me-because I'm a responsible adult and I had to feed my baby) went ice blocking and got caught by the security and had to run for their lives.

All in all, I'd say it was a successful family vacation!
