Kids say the darndest things....

I love my primary calling. There's never a dull moment. Last week we talked about obeying the laws. I got stories about dogs that got out of fences and got hit by cars and "Passed Out", and stories about dad's driving motorcycles who got hit by cars and DIED! (Don't worry, none of these are true). This week, we were talking about Telling the Truth and I asked the class "If you were running in the house and you knocked over a lamp and broke it, what would you do?" It took a little girl about a half of a second to answer me. This is what she said "I would hide the lamp under my bed. Then if my mom asked me if I knew where it was I would tell her that I don't know and somebody must have come in last night and stole it!"

It was so hilarious!

Another Day in the Life......

For those of you who think that maybe Kaia is not as in touch with her destructive side as she once was......I'm here to let you know that is NOT the case. I have just been too busy cleaning up her messes to post about them.

EVENT OF THE DAY.....

I was cutting Adriann's hair. My mom was putting Sienna in her bed for a nap. We realized it was pretty quiet. Which always means, Kaia is destroying something. I panicked a little because I knew exactly what she was into this time. I had been painting a wall in my room. We ran in there and this is what we found.

The carpet shampooer didn't even begin to take the paint out. All I can say is it's a good thing that is where our bed goes. We wont be rearranging our room anytime soon.

When my mom, Adriann, and I were done laughing I realized that I needed to put her in time out. She was sitting on the kitchen floor naked (because all of her clothes were ruined), with a book of mormon in her hand telling Ivy "Sit Down! Read the book!" I said to her "Oh you think that reading the book of mormon is going to get you out of time out?" and she said "But Momma, I want to see Jesus!"

It was the cutest thing I'd ever heard. But she still went to time out!

I layed Sienna in her swing the other day and went in the other room. When I came back this is what I saw......

I guess I will be strapping her in from now on.

Dusky bathed the girls and dressed them the other day. I had to post these pictures. They looked totally ridiculous (bless his little heart). As you can tell, Sienna is not very happy about her outfit.

UPDATE....

This is what has been going on in the Goulding household the last week.

A few days ago Kaia came up to me and said "Mamma, I wanna go pee pee in the potty!" I was like "WHAT!?!" Okay. So I took her pants and her diaper off and she ran around the house like that for a few hours. I was sure she was going to pee on my floor. Finally she came to me and said "Stinky in the potty." So I went and looked and lo and behold, she had peed in the potty. I freaked out and started jumping up and down and it got her really excited. I haven't bought her any underwear or pull ups yet so she has been running around my house naked for the last week.

In other Kaia news....

She dumped out the entire thing of pepper in her shoes and on the floor, she wrote all over her body with permanent marker and she wrote on my couches with pen (AGAIN)

And how many times can you watch Finding Nemo a day. I bet I can do it more. She's totally obsessed with "Memo"

Sienna rolls across the floor like a crazy lady. She's following in her sisters footsteps. Her favorite thing to do is roll across the floor and pull all of the movies off of the shelf. She also sits up by herself.

Here are some pictures from Georgia a few weeks ago. My mom's pool is awesome! It has a little shallow area for the girls and we couldn't keep Kaia out.

Kaia went to her first day of Mommy & Me gymnastics on Monday. It was so funny! She absolutely loved it. They rolled, jumped on the trampoline, hung on the bars, jumped through houla hoops. She kept running around yelling "YAY! YAY! YAY!"

I taught my first cake decorating class at Michael's last night. It was pretty fun. I'm going to be teaching every Wednesday night from 6-8.

Dusky is doing school like a crazy person. It has kept him very busy. He's got really hard classes this semester. So we don't really see him as much as we want to. But he's doing good. We love him!

WE SURVIVED!!!!

Yes we are alive! And we finally have our power back. I will never take electricity or hot showers for granted again!

I guess I'll just start at the beginning.......

Monday morning it started raining and the wind was blowing a little. It was dark and dreary, but just like any other Louisiana storm. Over the next few hours the wind and rain picked up quite a bit. Early that afternoon our power went out. At about 5:00 we were sitting in our living room and we heard a big crash. The glass door in front of our house had totally shattered. At that moment in time we decided to go over to the school. (Sturdy brick buildings make us feel a little better in a Hurricane) We wrapped blankets over the girls and took of running out the back door. I've seriously never seen anything like it in my life! (and I've seen some storms down here in the south)

The wind was blowing so hard that it kept ramming me into the fence. I couldn't run in a straight line. By the time we got to the school (which is about 15 feet from our house) it looked like we had jumped into a pool with our clothes on. Sienna was crying because she couldn't see what was going on with a blanket over her face and Kaia was crying because she wanted to go back outside where it was raining.

The Hurricane was directly over the top of us, kicking our butts for about 6 hours. During the worst partof the storm I thought that Dusky was walking around talking to kids in the school. Come to find out.... he was out in his truck driving through Lecompte taking pictures and video of the Hurricane. When Brent found this out of course he called him and said "Come pick me up!" So our husbands left Alicia and I in the school with the kids and the dogs, so they could go take on Gustav. I was kind of mad because I wanted to experience the storm, but I had to be the responsible mother. =) But what I did see of the storm was totally crazy.

We slept at the school that night because there were tornado warnings all over the place. The next morning we woke up and went to our house to assess the damages. A tree fell on the laundry room and one on the cafeteria at the school. Our glass door shattered, part of our roof torn apart, and all of our skirting missing around the bottom. Other than the bathroom ceiling and the ceiling, wall and part of the floor in our living that is going to have to be replaced, we did pretty good. There were lots of people that weren't so lucky! One of the chaperones decided to come stay at the school that night and it's a good thing she did, because her whole house was demolished by a tornado.

Tuesday was a very long, hot day. I stripped my poor kids down to nothing but diapers and they were still sweating like crazy. Then that afternoon Dusky came over and put a window air conditioner unit in our family room. Luckily my husband plans ahead. He saved my life. We have lived in that room for the last 4 days. We have slept on the pull out bed on the couch, watched movies, and enjoyed the cool air.

Tuesday night Dusky came running in right after I got the girls to sleep. He was talking on the phone but he yelled "There's a tornado, we need to go over to the school!" Right after he said that there was a huge rumbling sound right outside the window. My heart jumped clear out of my chest. I realized after a second that it was only thunder. The tornado warning said it would hit Lecompte by 9:10. It was 9:05 so we ripped the girls out of bed and ran over to the school. Of course Dusky and Brent ran back outside after they made sure we were safe and sound. It was dark but as soon as they went outside Dusky said that the wind hit him in the face, then it switched directions, hitting him in the back, then it was totally calm. As soon as the lightening hit, it lit the sky up well enough that they saw the tornado about 2 miles south of our house. After it went away, we went back home. It rained so hard that night.

Wednesday morning we got up and we were totally flooded. It looked like you were walking off of our front porch into a lake. Dusky had to take some people home into alexandria and the water was up past the doors on his truck. His truck was making huge waves as he drove down the street, pushing the water back into peoples houses. They had to get some people out of their houses by boats. It was amazing.

So what do you do when you've been locked in one room for three days and there's a flood outside of your house. You get your PE clothes on and go swimming!
